At 11 o'clock, the symbolic red button was pressed in front of hundreds of spectators. Two loud firecrackers exploded and the hydraulic presses started. The engineer, Rolf Iten, Zurich City Councillor André Odermatt and Peter Lehmann from Swiss Prime Site gave the order to start pushing. Soon after the building almost silently started moving, powered by two hydraulic presses with a shearing force of 60 tons each.

In order to test the power supply, the building had been moved a little bit earlier. «We needed to know if everything worked,» said Iten to the Swiss News Agency sda. Until now, everything is «going alright». The building will be moving at a speed of 3 to 5 metres per hour, said Iten during a press conference on Tuesday morning. This is only barely visible to the naked eye. The steel cylinders used to move the building have been marked with red colour to show its progress. City Councillor Odermatt wished the building a "good trip". The relocation is a symbol for what's possible if everybody co-operates, said Odermatt.
