Timetable 2013: The SBB expands their offer
The timetable 2013 will be valid from 9 December 2012. The railway company published their most important changes on Tuesday.
Their offer will be expanded mostly in the French speaking part of Switzerland and the eastern part. 74 new double decker trains will provide more seating. Between Zurich and Schaffhausen trains will leave every half an hour, with a stop in Zurich Oerlikon every hour. In addition the SBB will be using double decker trains of the type Regio-Dosto. In total the railway company purchased 74 such trains. Between St. Gallen and Chur passengers will also benefit from more seating: The new Regio-Dosto trains will be in use from summer 2013 onwards.
In the French speaking part of Switzerland there will be a half- hourly regional express train between Geneva and Lausanne, alternating its destination between Palézieux-Romont and Vevey. Here also the Regio-Dosto trains will be used, already from 10 June, 2012 onwards.
